Match Your Response to the Enemy
Recognize factory enemies by their warning cues, then use the counter that fits: hold Miss Delight with your flashlight, interrupt Boogie Bot, Bunzo Bunny, or CatBee with thrown items, and avoid CatNap's gas. Check overhead for Bunzo Bunny and secure loose loot before Candy Cat eats it.
Factory Enemies in Early Access
The School's launch lineup names Boogie Bot, Bunzo Bunny, and CatBee as smaller experiments, with Miss Delight as a Bigger Body encounter. Community guides also describe Candy Cat, while official updates detail CatNap's pursuit behavior. Early Access includes encounters beyond the beta lineup, so use the released game's enemy behavior when planning your response.
| Enemy | Warning and response |
|---|---|
| Miss Delight | Listen for her heels. Her touch is lethal, but a flashlight beam freezes her in place; back away while keeping the light trained on her. |
| Boogie Bot | Its lights detect players before an alarm and charge. Throw an item to stun it briefly, or use furniture to get above its view; hiding directly underneath objects does not help. |
| Bunzo Bunny | Look overhead before passing beneath him. Bunzo ambushes players from above; throwing an item at him interrupts a grab on a teammate. |
| CatBee | This flying enemy latches onto players and poisons them. A thrown item knocks it off, while Antidote cures the poisoning. |
| Candy Cat | Listen for rattling wheels. Candy Cat generally leaves players alone but eats items left on the floor; avoid cornering her and move your loot into Barry. |
| CatNap | Gas exposure brings sustained pursuit, even when CatNap cannot reach his target. Higher ground does not make him lose sight of you, so keep looking for a way out. |
Keep Your Escape Tools Ready
Keep a charged flashlight available for Miss Delight instead of automatically depositing every useful item with Barry. Flashlight power drains while the light is on, so switch it off in well-lit areas or use glowsticks when you do not need the beam. A battery recharges your flashlight and helps preserve your way to stop her.
Carry something you are willing to throw when exploring rooms with smaller enemies. Thrown items can interrupt Boogie Bot, Bunzo Bunny, and CatBee, giving you a practical response beyond running away. Before depositing useful equipment, weigh its tribute value against what your team may need during the next encounter.
Back Away From Miss Delight
- Train your flashlight on Miss Delight when she approaches; the beam freezes her in place and gives you an opportunity to withdraw.
- Back away slowly without lowering the beam, creating distance while maintaining the light that holds her still.
- Monitor your battery charge during the retreat so you can account for the remaining flashlight power before committing to a longer route.
- Use a lit Road Flare to help protect an escape path if you have one available; it prevents monsters from crossing its path while lit, and Miss Delight is affected by Road Flares.
Miss Delight can detect sounds through proximity chat, so keep communication purposeful around her. Agree on your retreat direction before the group becomes scattered. Give the player maintaining the flashlight room to move.
Keep Moving Away From CatNap's Gas
CatNap pursues players affected by his gas, including targets he cannot reach. He also maintains sight of players on higher ground and acquires his target earlier during his attack animation. Treat climbing as a route choice rather than a reason to stop escaping.
A Gas Absorber can clear gas from a room or route, making it useful when gas affects the way you intend to travel. Keep CatNap's tactics separate from Boogie Bot's: furniture can make it harder for the bot to spot you, while height does not make CatNap lose sight of you. Use the layout to seek another path instead of waiting above him.
Interrupt Smaller Enemies and Rescue Teammates
- Check the ceiling and upper areas before entering a room, giving yourself a chance to spot Bunzo Bunny before walking beneath his ambush.
- Throw an item at Bunzo Bunny if he grabs a teammate; hitting him interrupts the attack.
- Knock an attached CatBee off with a thrown item. When playing alone, look down and throw something at your feet to dislodge it.
- Use Antidote to cure CatBee poisoning, addressing the poison separately from removing the creature.
Secure Your Loot and Find a Way Out
Candy Cat threatens your haul by eating items left on the floor. Loot already loaded into Barry is beyond her reach, so regular deliveries are safer than building a loose pile in a room. Avoid cornering her as you collect the remaining items.
- Check the Sketch-A-Map to locate nearby teammates and Barry, giving your retreat a destination in the changing factory layout.
- Take an alternate route when an enemy blocks your usual path, prioritizing safety over collecting more loot.
- Deliver your collected tribute to Barry to advance the quota and protect those items from Candy Cat.
- Head for the exit once the quota is met; the hatch opens automatically, allowing you to escape without taking another unnecessary detour.
